Adult Home Organizer
Position Summary: The Adult Home Organizer (AHO) is a full-time position that works flexible hours dependent on the organizing needs of the homes. The AHO works in conjunction with other full-time staff, as well as part-time Peer Advocates, in planning strategy and actions to support the needs of Resident Councils, Food Committees and the EQUAL Grants process and CIAD’s advocacy and lobbying goals. The AHO’s direct supervisor is the Executive Director.

Group Facilitator/Organizing Intern
Position Summary: CIAD’s adult home organizing internship is an excellent learning opportunity for hands-on experience for college students interested in organizing, social work, public health, public policy or older adults and housing issues impacting seniors, and others with medical and mental health diagnoses. This is a paid internship.
We are looking for a college junior or senior, grad student, and recent grad to join us for the 2025/2026 academic year. Fall and Spring Interns are expected to work approximately 7 hours per week. Work is primarily in person with some remote work. The intern will be required to travel within Brooklyn and Queens and attend in person meetings at Adult Care Facilities. May also involve a few hours at our offices located in Lower Manhattan. Start and end dates can be flexible depending on your academic calendar.

Peer Advocate
Position Summary: The Peer Advocate (PA) is an ambassador of CIAD to help educate, advocate and empower residents of Adult Care Facilities. In this part-time role, the PA is a listener, who learns the needs and culture of a home by getting to know Residents, attending Resident Council and Food Committee gatherings and other activities as invited and assigned. A Peer Advocate may be tasked with support in multiple homes over a period of time in order to have the greatest impact in empowering our constituency. The PA combines the lived personal experience of physical and mental health challenges as well as adult care facility living in their various activities. A Peer Advocate may be trained to provide Independence Trainings or other workshops in various ACFs. The PA is an integral part of the CIAD Team to empower Resident Councils in their effective leadership of the home Residents. The PA also participates in identifying and supporting legislative items for lobbying with state and city elected and regulatory officials.
